6 Free Meditation Apps to Help You Relax
Relaxation is one of the many reasons that people choose to make meditation a part of their lifestyle. Sometimes it can be hard to get started or decide which style of meditation will suit you. Meditation apps can be a great option because they can help to focus your mind and body for relaxation in as little as a few minutes at a time.
With a huge variety of options to choose from there is something to suit everyone. Here are a few of our favorites.
With regularly updated episodes that are usually around 30 minutes long, the meditation podcast with Jesse and Jeane Stern is a great option to allow you plenty of time to get into a deep relaxation. They currently have 50 guided meditation episodes in total. These range from healing trauma to hearing your inner voice, and creating a wall of peace.
Meditation station by Stin Hansen is a good option for those who are new to meditation. Many of the guided meditations are only 5-10 minutes long, although there are some longer ones on there too. There are plenty of ‘real world’ meditations to help you with everything from changing your body to detoxing from work and dealing with crises.
This meditation app uses gentle music, rather than a guided meditation, to help you relax. Created by Jim Butler, you’ll currently find 76 episodes set to help you relax. His new age, ambient music can help you to meditate, sleep, reflect and heal.
Another meditation app that doesn’t provide guided meditations, but will help you relax, is ‘White Noise’. The app uses background sounds such as waves, falling rain, or wind chimes to help mask distracting noises. This can help with meditation or with sleep, especially if you are in a noisy environment. This app is only available for iOS devices, but there are similar options for android, such as relax melodies: sleep sounds.
This app has been designed to help make your anytime, anywhere yoga routine even more relaxing. With a South East Asian influence to its melodies, you can focus on your breathing and postures while listening to tunes such as Bhakti, meditation bowl and third eye. Formerly called ‘relax oriental’, this app is only available for iOS devices.
This is another meditation app that focuses on white noise to help with rest, relaxation and sleep. It’s also another app with an Asian influence, offering traditional Asian music to help you rest, relax and sleep. Choose from one sound at a time such as frogs, bamboo or Asian duet, or mix a number of sounds together to suit your mood. You can also opt to upgrade to the paid version for a number of additional options.
