  • HIIT vs Cardio: Which burns more fat

Posted by krumike on November 6, 2020 at 7:10 am

There is a common question surrounding two popular forms of exercise, HIIT and cardio, and that is – Which one burns more fat?

The answer is, they’re basically the same. However, when you combine high aerobic activity with weight training (HIIT) you’re likely to burn more calories in a shorter amount of time than with traditional cardio like running, cycling, or swimming.

All of these are great to do, so it really comes down to preference and how much time you want to spend to hit your calorie burn goal each day. Personally, I love to mix a cardio day into my regular weekly routine of HIIT and pure strength training days. Best of luck, and feel free to ask me any more questions you might have about this topic.

How to measure how many calories you burn with a typical HIIT training session?🤔

I recommend using a wearable heart rate monitor which can help to estimate calorie use/burn. Many local boutique gyms offer these as part of their classes at no extra charge, so you might even be able to avoid having to buy your own unless you also want to track daily calorie burn inside and outside of actual workout times. I hope that helps 🙂

I wasn’t aware you could rent a wearable at certain gyms! Good stuff thanks🙃
